The importance of 'setting the scene' cannot be understated. This holiday is about YOU & this page is FOR you. So let's go big on the things that really matter… those qualities that make your holiday extra special.

Indoors / a guided tour / Kitchen Dining

The first thing that really strikes you as you enter Casa Bedrock is the living space. Firstly the well equipped kitchen & large dining area. This haven of coolness is most welcome whilst grabbing a cold beer from the fridge on a hot summer day.

First Floor Lounge & Balcony

From here, a hardwood staircase leads up to the bright spacious lounge with high vaulted ceiling where you can relax & absorb the stunning views through 6m (20ft) of glass! Sliding these doors open onto the full length balcony creates a wonderfully odd feeling… like part of the wall has been removed & that the great outdoors & indoors have become one huge space. It really is quite exhilarating. But the feeling of spaciousness doesn't end there...

Mezzanine Level

Climb the short staircase to our mezzanine level from where you can access 2 of our 3 bedrooms and the house bathroom. From here you have a cinematic view, down through the lounge windows to the olive trees in our garden 2 floors below. There's also a desk / workstation here with an excellent wifi signal.

Bedrooms & Bathroom 1

Enter bedroom 1. This room has great views down the lane & across the red tiled rooftops of Outeiro to the distant hills. Here you'll find a king size bed (190cm x 160cm) bedside units with lamps, a generous double wardrobe and air conditioning.

Enter bedroom 2. This room has great views across to the pool area, olive grove & shepherds track. Here you'll find twin beds (190cm x 100cm) a set of drawers, bedside lamp, a hanging rail, air conditioning & ample space under the beds for your suitcases.

Enter the fully tiled bathroom. Here you'll find a vanity unit with recessed lights, good sized wash basin, large mirror & cupboards. Shaver point (please bring UK shaver adaptor), toilet, and a bath with shower over + extractor fan.

Bedroom 3 with en-suite. An outstanding feature is the ‘bedrock bedroom'. Much loved by teenagers & those who prefer that little bit of extra privacy; this very large en-suite room is located on the ground floor below the first floor lounge. Sole access is from outside and a kettle + chairs and a small table are provided to further enhance this delightfully quirky bedroom / living space. It has a king size bed (190cm x 160cm.)

It's worth mentioning here, that all our beds have memory foam toppers to ensure a comfortable nights sleep.

Outdoors / a guided tour

Quietly tucked away in a ¼ acre of private woodland / gardens, Casa Bedrock makes the best of Outeiro's hilltop location for a breath of fresh air on those long summer days. And that all important chill out time under the shade of ancient olive trees in rocky glades has a magical quality to it.

Pool entrance & child safety / Upper Terrace / Barbecue area

From the kitchen / dining room, step outside into nature with limestone features, rocky outcrops, 2 ancient olive trees, a large barbecue and beyond to your private swimming pool. This unbroken view is interrupted only by an almost invisible, but for children, vitally important toughened glass safety barrier with a lockable gate. We laboured long & hard over this decision. We never questioned that we should have one, but how to do it without detracting from our wonderful views? Glass doesn't come cheap but it really was the only option.

The Swimming Pools

As you stroll across to the pool area, you'll hear a symphony of crickets & birdsong; unlock the barrier & step inside. Directly in front is the shallow children's pool & to your left are gradual steps into the large pool - plenty large enough for an invigorating swim! Notice the turquoise blue water. To replicate the natural colour of water in the Caribbean and Mediterranean, the only solution was to install a sand coloured liner - not a speck of artificial blue in sight… We let the ultraviolet light from the sun do the rest - mirror nature -obvious & simple if you think about it!

Step to the end of the pool & enjoy distant views down into the valley then up & beyond to the  Sicó mountain.

Dining area

Exit the pool area, turn right down the slope. Here you'll find the outdoor dining area with a large table and 6 comfortable chairs under the shade of a large hexagonal pergola. Wine & dine al-fresco in this beauty spot well into the evening.

The following morning brew some strong coffee, then, from the lounge, wander onto the balcony to enjoy the songs of nature & delights of our panoramic views.

Essential Shade & 'Me time'

Have a swim then relax on one of sun loungers. The pool is a fun area & maybe some of your party are playing with pool toys, inflatables etc & being a bit noisy. Grab a beer from the fridge & wander down to the lower garden area & sit in relative peace in the welcome shade of our ancient olive trees. Don't worry about bringing a chair, they're already there! Watch our video and you'll understand… but just imagine how much better it is in reality!

Our landscape in summary...

We engineered the landscape just a little to enhance what we already had - adding a touch of magic here & there - utilising the fissure in a huge limestone outcrop to form a waterfall - discovering the optimum position amongst our ancient olive trees & natural limestone terraces to make a quiet shaded seating area. And importantly, used glass to maintain the visual integrity of our landscape & natural stone to enhance our pool area & surrounding walls. We hope you enjoy it.
